One-liner
A developer cloud platform pitching itself as the runtime for AI-generated code and agents, plus an in-house AI app-builder for the Phoenix (Elixir) ecosystem. Hero line: "Build fast. Run any code fearlessly."
The category question
Fly.io is not in the same product lane as Replit or Anything.com. Replit and Anything.com are builders — the user talks to an agent, the product generates and hosts the app. Fly.io is the compute platform the builders and agents run on. That said, they have two surfaces that overlap:
- Sprites — hardware-isolated sandboxes pitched for "AI-generated code" and "agents that scale to millions of users." This is the runtime-layer bet. Overlaps E2B, Daytona, Modal, Cloudflare Workers.
- Phoenix.new — an AI app-builder narrow to the Elixir/Phoenix ecosystem, hosted on Fly. "Describe your app, and watch it take shape." This is the direct-builder overlap with Replit/Anything.com, but scoped to a different language community.
Fly.io's real threat to CreateOS isn't Phoenix.new — it's Sprites becoming the default sandbox referenced by the OpenAI Agents SDK, LangChain, and every other agent orchestrator. If that happens, Fly becomes the infrastructure layer and every CreateOS lead is a Fly-hosted execution.
ICP summary
Three concentric rings, from the marketing: 1. Framework-shipping developers (Phoenix, Rails, Django, Laravel, JS, Rust, Python, Go) — the traditional Fly audience. 2. Agent / AI builders — new surface via Sprites. "Run AI-generated code in complete safety." 3. Enterprise — compliance ($99/mo HIPAA package), support tiers ($29/mo+, custom), SSO, OIDC.

Feature inventory
- Flydotio - Sprites — hardware-isolated sandboxes for AI-generated code + agents. The headline AI product.
- Flydotio - Fly Machines — hardware-virtualized containers, per-second billing, the base compute primitive.
- Flydotio - Fly GPUs — GPU-backed Machines for model inference / training.
- Flydotio - Managed Postgres — first-party managed Postgres (the Fly Postgres rewrite / re-platform).
- Flydotio - Phoenix.new — AI app-builder for Elixir/Phoenix apps, hosted on Fly.
UX flows captured
None. No screenshots in raw/Flydotio/. All synthesis is from homepage copy, docs index, pricing page, and phoenix.new landing.
Fly's console UX, deploy flow, Sprites dashboard, GPU provisioning UX — all uncaptured. Screenshots would unblock the Flydotio - Tech and any UX-flow pages.
Notable
- Pricing is metered only, no named tiers — every competitor in the builder category has tiered plans with credit buckets. Fly bills pay-as-you-go compute with a 40%-off reservation option. This is cloud-pricing, not builder-pricing.
- New product: Sprites — the pitch is explicitly "agents run better on Sprites" with "dedicated CPU, memory, networking per instance." This is positioned for the exact moment builders like Replit need an isolated runtime for agent-generated code.
- Stack integrations are orthogonal — Tigris Object Storage, Upstash Redis referenced in docs nav. Fly is assembling the data-layer complement to the compute primitives.
- Phoenix.new exists but is narrow — Elixir only, no mention of pricing, auth via "Sign in with Fly.io." Read as a developer-marketing beachhead (show that Fly can host AI-generated apps beautifully if you're in the Elixir community) rather than a mass-market builder play.
